Final training run on the moor today. People talk about the wonderful peace and quiet on the moors and in the countryside. I hear only noise, the sounds of unadulterated nature. The wind, a curlew, a grouse, sheep, water cascading, flowing, raining, the heather alive and full of sound . My own breathing, clothes rustling, feet stomping, squelching. All these sounds continually changing, never the same from one day to the next, from one minute to the next. The peace and quiet of the moor. A wonderful cacophony of sound.
