Santa Barbara

We left Los Angeles reluctantly, what a fantastic city with a great vibe. It took a couple of days to get into it but once we did we loved it. Leaving the city behind we weren’t sure what to expect, arriving in Santa Barbara was like dropping into paradise. We headed straight to one of the oldest and most intact Missions in California, a very tranquil place with beautiful gardens and stunning views. Following the visit to the mission we climbed the tower of the old courthouse, what a view! 360* and fantastic in every direction. We then headed to the beach and marina, this is a town that just keeps giving. Our hotel was superbly located and the staff and quality of facilities exceptional. The highlight was the rooftop pool and terrace, complimented with live music. We enjoyed a Mexican fusion meal in a courtyard with a fountain in which were swimming turtles the size of side plates. We can’t wait for tomortow to further explore the area. Then we move on up the coast to Cambria and Hearst Castle.

A new day

Nothing beats a good nights sleep. Woken to a rainy Los Angeles but our spirits aren’t dampened, off to meet with Lucinda and get some breakfast. It was going to be a beach day but may need a re-think in light of the rain! It is warm at least.
